Our Story

Makinson Metals is a family-run scrap metal merchant, established in 2019 by father and son, Andrew and Ian Makinson.

What began as a man-and-van collection service has grown into a busy transfer yard specialising in both ferrous and

non-ferrous metals. Over the years, we’ve steadily built the yard into what it is today, investing time and care into creating a professional, well-run site that works for trade customers and domestic visitors alike.

The yard sits on our home ground and has been developed with pride, designed to operate efficiently while remaining

sympathetic to its rural setting. It’s a working yard, but it’s also a place we look after.

We take pride in running a tidy, organised yard and providing a service that customers can rely on, from the first call to the final collection.

Customers are always welcome to pop into the yard office, whether it’s to ask a question, sort paperwork, or have a quick chat. If the kettle’s on, there’s usually a coffee going too.
